Your character and the shop

Use this guide to change how your character looks and spend the gold you've earned.

Before you begin

You need gold, which comes from completing quests. Nothing in the shop can be bought any other way.

Your character

The Character tab shows your portrait, your level and how far through it you are, your gold, and any streak you're on. Under it, Your look shows what you're wearing in each of the four slots.

Your title, if you're wearing one, sits under your name. Titles come from trophies — pick which to wear on the Trophies screen.

Changing how you look

Character, then Appearance. Five things: skin tone, hairstyle, hair colour, eyes and mouth. Surprise me randomises all five, and nothing is saved until you confirm.

You can change it as often as you like. This is your face — hats, outfits, glasses and pets come from the shop instead.

The shop

Four slots, each holding one thing at a time:

  • Hats — 3 to buy
  • Outfits — 6
  • Glasses — 3
  • Pets — 5

Buying is permanent. There's no selling and no refunds, so gold spent is spent. You can't buy something twice, and the shop shows Owned on anything you already have.

Hats, outfits and glasses appear on your portrait. Pets don't — they show as a badge beside your portrait and on their own tile, because the artwork style has no place to put a companion.

Wearing things

Character, then tap a slot under Your look. Pick anything you own, or None to take that slot off. Each tile shows only what's in its own slot, so you can see one piece at a time rather than the whole outfit at once.

Rare drops

Approving a quest sometimes drops an item. Three of them only ever drop and can't be bought at any price.

Drops only give you things you don't own. Once you have all three, a drop pays gold instead — between 15 and 40, on top of whatever the quest was worth.

If you submitted a quest that didn't need approving, the drop appears straight away, and gold shows as its own Bonus drop line so you can tell it apart from what the quest paid. If a Game Master approved it later, an item is waiting the next time you open the app; gold isn't announced, it's simply already in your purse.

Trophy items

Six things you might see on another character never appear in the shop, at any price. They come only from earning the trophy that grants them — see Streaks and trophies for which one earns which.

Collections

Some items belong to a set. Finish one and you get a trophy for it — the cats are the only set at the moment, and collecting them all unlocks a trophy, a title, and the Little Leopard: a pet that's earned this way and isn't in the shop.

Common issues

I can't afford anything. Gold comes from quests. Check what a quest pays before starting it — the amount is on the quest itself.

I bought something and my character looks the same. Buying doesn't wear it. Go to Character, tap the slot, and pick it.

My pet isn't on my character. It won't be. Pets show as a badge next to your portrait, not on it.

I equipped a hat and my hair vanished. A hat replaces your hairstyle while you're wearing it. Take the hat off and your hair comes back — nothing was lost.

A drop never came. They're rare — roughly one quest in fifty — and they only give items you don't already own.

I got gold instead of an item. You already own every droppable item, so there was nothing left to give you. Drops keep coming, they just pay gold from now on.
