Use this guide to run a household-wide boost — double XP, double gold, or both — for a window you choose.
Before you begin
Events need Premium, and only a Game Master can start or end one. Players never see the Events screen; they see the boost on their own quests.
Family, then Events. On a free household the tile carries a Premium badge and explains what events do instead of opening.
The three events
| Event | What it doubles |
|---|---|
| ⚡ Double XP | XP |
| 💰 Golden Hour | Gold |
| 🔥 Power Weekend | XP and gold |
Rare drops are unaffected — the same chance, and still 15 to 40 gold when one pays out instead of an item. A goal's prize is never multiplied either. Boosted gold does count toward the gold-earned trophy, because it's gold that was genuinely earned; see Streaks and trophies.
Starting one
Tap an event to open it, choose how long it runs, then Start.
The durations are Rest of today, This weekend, 24 hours, 3 days, 1 week, and Custom, which takes a number of hours from now. Rest of today ends at 23:59; This weekend ends at 23:59 on the coming Sunday, or tonight if it's already Sunday. The end time is worked out from your phone's clock rather than the household timezone, and it has to be in the future.
One event at a time. While one runs, it sits at the top of the screen with an End control and the catalogue below it is greyed out. There's no stacking two boosts.
Everyone in the household gets a push saying an event started. Each person can switch that one off for themselves — see Notifications.
Real rewards are a separate switch
Under the durations is a toggle, Also double real rewards, and it's off unless you turn it on. It's independent of which event you picked: a Power Weekend doesn't touch what you owe unless you tick it.
With it on, a quest's real reward amount doubles when the quest is approved — a quest promising 20 records 40 as owed under Payouts. A real reward you described in words with no amount, like an evening of screen time, has nothing to multiply and is unaffected. See Rewards.
The running event repeats the warning on its card, so you can see the boost is on without ending it to check.
What Players see
A banner at the top of Home with the event's name and when it ends, and a one-time full-screen announcement the first time they open the app during that event.
Quest cards show the boosted figures as 10 → 20 with a Boosted badge, so a Player can see what a quest is worth right now rather than working it out.
The boost is applied at approval
Not when the quest is set, and not when it's handed in:
- Submitted before the event, approved during it — pays the boosted amount.
- Submitted during the event, approved after it ends — pays the normal amount.
- A quest you set not to need approval pays out the moment the Player submits it, so the event has to be running then.
What was awarded is then recorded on the quest. Ending the event, or editing that quest's rewards later, never changes what has already been paid, and Statistics counts the boosted figures because that's what was earned.
Ending one
An event stops on its own at its end time, and nobody is notified when it does. End stops it immediately. Either way, everything already approved keeps what it paid.
If your subscription lapses while an event is running, the event finishes its window. You just can't start another one.
A goal can suggest one
On a goal's screen, when a Player is behind their own pace and no event is running, a Game Master is offered a three-day Power Weekend in one tap. It never switches on the real-reward boost — see Goals.
Common issues
The Events tile has a Premium badge. Events are Premium. Tapping it explains what they do; nothing is hidden.
I can't start a second event. One runs at a time per household. End the current one first, and the catalogue becomes tappable again.
The real reward wasn't doubled. The real-reward toggle is separate from the event type and starts off. Without it, an event only doubles XP and gold.
A quest paid the normal amount while the event was on. It was approved outside the window. The reward is worked out at approval, not when the quest was assigned or submitted.
A quest still shows doubled numbers now the event is over. That's what it paid. Awarded amounts are recorded on the quest and don't change afterwards.
The event ended earlier than I expected. The end time comes from the phone that started it. If that phone's clock or timezone differs from the household's, so does the window.
