Rewards

Use this guide to understand what a completed quest pays, and how real-world rewards get settled.

Before you begin

Rewards land when a quest is approved, not when it's submitted. If a quest needs review, nothing is paid until a Game Master approves it.

Three kinds of reward

XP raises your level. It's never spent and never goes down.

Gold is the in-app currency. You spend it in the Shop on hats, outfits, glasses and pets. Nothing else costs gold.

Real rewards are what you've agreed outside the app — money, screen time, or anything a Game Master writes in. The app tracks these and reminds you they're owed. It doesn't move any money.

A quest can pay XP and gold with no real reward attached. Most should.

Levels

Each level takes more XP than the last. Level 2 arrives at 25 XP, level 3 at 100, level 4 at 225, and so on — the threshold is 25 × (level − 1)². Levels stop at 60.

Your character sheet shows how far into the current level you are.

Real rewards and payouts

When a quest with a real reward is approved, the app records what's owed to that Player. It appears under My rewards on their character sheet, and under Family, then Payouts for Game Masters.

A Game Master marks it paid once they've handed over the money, screen time, or whatever was agreed. Marking it paid is a record that it happened — the app never transfers anything itself.

Only Game Masters can mark a reward paid, and only once. A second attempt on an already-paid entry does nothing.

Money rewards use the household currency, set when the household is created and changeable under Family, then Household settings. Changing it doesn't rewrite anything already owed — every payout keeps the currency it was promised in, so only new ones use the new setting.

Totals over a period — what you've earned and what's still owed — are on the statistics screens. See Statistics.

Rare drops

Approving a quest sometimes drops a cosmetic item the Player doesn't own. It's random, it costs nothing, and it can't be bought that way — some items only ever drop.

If you were the one who submitted an auto-approved quest, the drop appears immediately. If a Game Master approved it later, it's waiting the next time you open the app.

Common issues

My gold went up but my level didn't. Gold and XP are separate. Levels come only from XP.

I was paid twice for one quest. You weren't — approving twice is refused. If two entries look identical, check whether the quest was assigned to you more than once, or repeats.

A reward is marked paid and I never got it. The app only records what a Game Master says happened. Sort it out with them; the entry can't be un-paid in the app.

My rewards says nothing is waiting but I finished a quest. Only quests with a real reward attached create an entry. XP and gold are paid straight to your character with nothing to settle.

A drop never appeared. Drops are random and only ever give items you don't already own. Once you own everything droppable, no more will come.
